In May 2004 Steve
& Gwen began extending the house. This pushed the house out
into the back garden by 2.5m, across the entire 14m width, but at a
600mm higher level than the original back, creating a new split-level -
containing newly built Utility Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, Bathroom and
Bedroom. This higher floor extended back into the old part of the
house by 2.5m thus creating a new floor 5m deep. The roof,
similarly
had to be stripped-back by 2.5m, raised, and have a new 2.5m
added. This was to be a flat garden roof. The following
pictures show some of the chaos we have been living and working
with for the last 2 years:
